It’s been estimated that one in five American adults are affected by anxiety or related disorders.

It goes to show that it is a common issue that needs attention.

The upside is that having so many people affected means there is a lot of data to look at and find out what works and what doesn’t work.

This means more doctors and scientists work to find effective solutions to counter anxiety.

For some, a cure can be as simple as needing to breathe.

But other cases might be so severe that a doctor might recommend medication.

It depends on how severe your anxiety is.

Luckily for you, more and more solutions are being provided digitally.

In this article, we are going to review one program called Panic Away, we’ll look into its history, tips, techniques, disadvantages of the program.

What Is Panic Away?

Panic Away is a program that utilises different tools in the form of video, audio, and more to show you how to overcome or control anxiety while preventing panic attacks to ensure you full control over your daily life.

Panic away includes a 275-page eBook, a 48 minute long video, and several techniques that can be implemented without investing much time.

The eBook provides techniques, tips, and tools on how to deal with anxiety.

It also includes several chapters that help you understand what anxiety is, what causes it, and how it can be different from person to person.

The eBook also breaks down to specific types of anxiety, such as agoraphobia, fear of flying, fear of public speaking, O.C.D., and much more.

This is great if you want to find out about your fears, what causes them, and understand them on a deeper level.

Understanding what anxiety really is and how it can manifest can help a person find the root cause. Finding the root cause is the best way to tackle anxiety.

The DVD covers the panic of the Panic Away program so that you can easily learn the techniques even if you’re not a reader.

The CDs are meant to teach you how to eliminate night-panic, ease anxious thoughts, end driving anxiety, stop fearing unusual body sensations, and more.

Panic Away History

Barry McDonagh is the author of the Panic Away guidebook and program.

He’s no Doctor – he is an undergraduate at UCD, and his expertise comes from his background: this is probably why his approach to managing anxiety is so unique and different from any other.

Barry McDonagh’s background isn’t different from many other histories of people that suffer or suffered anxiety disorders.

He has a long history of panic attacks; after he experienced the first one, he started having a constant fear of having another one, which is common to many panic attack sufferers.

This constant state of tension often leads to another panic attack in an endless and stressful vicious circle, and this is what used to happen to Mister McDonagh.

As others like him can confirm, this experience results in a feeling of always being vulnerable – never and nowhere being safe.

McDonagh didn’t see any doctor because he didn’t want to be labelled with a stigmatizing diagnosis.

This is common to many who experience panic attacks: they avoid seeing a doctor for just the same reason.

Like most of us, he consulted the Internet and, as always, it just gave him the same advice: if you have anxiety, see your doctor and learn how to live with it.

He tried books, but those breathing exercises and coping techniques didn’t work once when he had panic attacks.

He came to the conclusion that he had to help himself, and this is how, in 2001, the Panic Away program was born: McDonagh began to study his own panic attacks, and instead of searching for how to fight them, he tried not to fight.

This simple idea broke the cycle and he started getting better.

Of course, stopping fighting panic attacks and anxiety is only the end of the journey, there is a lot more than that in the Panic Away Program.

Does Panic Away Really Cure Anxiety?

Panic Away’s methods and strategies come from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Logotherapy.

CBT’s objective is to teach people how to identify their negative and unhelpful thoughts and deploy self-help strategies aimed to bring positive changes in their quality of life.

According to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, a person’s feeling, thoughts, and behaviours can influence their quality of life, so it aims to teach people that is possible to have control over them.

It sets practical strategies to help people modify their automatic behaviours, thoughts, and feelings.

Since these strategies are helpful to fight negative thoughts that may prevent people from getting through their days, and facing even the most common activities, they can be helpful to treat problems like anxiety and panic attacks.

Logotherapy is a psychotherapeutic approach based on the idea that most human beings are motivated by a search for meaning.

Therefore, the meaning can be the biggest stressor of our psyches.

That’s why utilizing strategies and methods to find motivation in their life, people can achieve relief from their anxiety disorder.

Personal Advice

It’s always best for people to try and approach situations as an experiment to see what works best.

If you have co-workers or friends that cause you stress, perhaps it would be much easier to try and change how you respond to their behaviour instead of expecting them to change.

Instead of responding to frustrating or stressful situations in a reactive manner, it helps to take a moment to take some deep breaths, think about the situation clearly, and decide if it’s worth the energy to be stressed over.

If a situation can be controlled or helped, you should not stress.

If you have no control over the situation or cannot be helped, it seems pointless to stress unless that will somehow motivate you to control the situation better.

I have encountered people, including myself, who have had constant anxiety and fear over their future.

Whether it was about their jobs, schools, personal lives (like whether they’d have enough money to pay their next bill, etc).

Their anxiety reached the point where they were never able to enjoy the moment, always spacing out during social events because they were too preoccupied with thinking about the future.

The problem with this is that you forget to ‘live in the now’ because you’re always busy thinking about abstract situations.

You just have to reassure yourself that everything usually turns out fine, if it doesn’t, you’ll pull through.

A lot of things that are being stressed over are usually nothing to worry about.

Consider what the worst scenario would be, and when you do, you’ll realize it’s not worth stressing over.

This helped them a lot because they slowly learned to think less about the future and more about the now.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to be thinking about your future.

But overthinking to the point where you’re unable to live in the now, constantly distancing yourself from others, and blocking feelings of happiness just causes more stress.


Panic Away does not promise to cure everyone’s anxiety issues.

Some reviews on the internet reported this as a downside.

In my opinion, this isn’t a negative aspect of the program.

On the contrary, it can be seen as a sign of honesty from Panic Away’s author and creator.

Since everyone is different, there’s no single program, technique, method, or strategy that can solve all mental issues.

No one among those who want to try Panic Away should quit their anxiety medication – especially benzodiazepines – without consulting their doctor.

Ending medications suddenly can be dangerous and cause serious issues as a consequence.

Always consult your doctor before changing or removing prescribed medications.
